Which makeup vanity suits your room and storage needs?

For a small corner: HOMCOM 831-988V90WT

This model is 45 cm wide when folded, while the tabletop extends to 74.3 cm with the side leaf raised. It is worth considering if you need extra surface space only while getting ready. One drawer and two shelves provide space for a carefully chosen selection of everyday items.

The mirror has touch-controlled LED lighting with 3000, 4000 and 6500 K settings. The tabletop is 79.8 cm high. Before choosing a stool, check knee clearance and your sitting height. A 45 cm alcove will not accommodate the extended tabletop: you also need clear space beside the unit to raise the leaf.

For two drawers and open storage: VASAGLE RDT114W01

The VASAGLE occupies an 80 × 40 cm footprint and has two drawers, three open compartments and a raised shelf. Use the open compartments for frequently used products and the drawers for smaller items you prefer to keep out of sight. The brightness of its nine bulbs is adjustable.

Consider it if you want a straightforward rectangular layout without a side drawer unit. The raised rear section still takes up some of the overall depth, so compare your makeup tray with the clear surface at the front. A stool is not listed in the supplied set and should be planned separately.

This 100 cm-wide dressing table has seven drawers and six concealed compartments behind the mirror. The small drawers measure 16 × 28.5 × 8.5 cm internally; the large drawer measures 47 × 28.5 × 8.5 cm. These measurements help you check whether palettes, organisers and bottles laid flat will fit.

The overall depth is 40 cm, but the manufacturer lists the tabletop as 100 × 27 cm at a height of 78 cm. This shows why overall depth should not be treated as clear working depth. Twelve LED bulbs surround the mirror. Leave room for the side compartments to slide out, and compare the gap between the drawer units with your chair.

For a set with a stool: HOMCOM 83D-133V90WT

The 120 cm-wide model combines six drawers, four open shelves and a padded stool. Its main tabletop measures 100 × 37 cm and stands 75 cm high; the side section accounts for the remaining overall width. The stool measures 40 × 28 × 40 cm.

The ten LED bulbs offer 3000, 4500 and 6500 K settings. This set is worth comparing when you need both seating and more storage. Check the full 120 cm width against your room and whether the 40 cm seat height feels comfortable. An included stool does not automatically suit every person's height.

Dressing table dimensions: check the fit at home

Mark out the furniture and its moving parts

Use removable tape on the floor to mark the width and depth of your chosen model. Put your existing chair in position, sit down, stand up and open the nearest wardrobe door. Allow separately for drawers, sliding shelves and a folding tabletop. This reveals obstacles that measuring the wall alone can miss.

For example, an 80 cm unit in an 85 cm space leaves just 5 cm of total clearance, or 2.5 cm on each side if centred. That is not space to open a side compartment. Account for skirting boards, the plug behind the unit and access needed during assembly.

Match the height to your seat and mirror

When seated, you should be able to see your face without leaning down towards the tabletop. Compare the position of the mirror's lower edge, the tabletop height and your seat. Armrests or a thick cushion may prevent a chair from sliding underneath. If several people will use the table, try different sitting heights.

What to compare in the mirror and lighting

The label “LED” does not describe every lighting feature. Check whether brightness and light colour can be adjusted, where the switch is and how the power is connected. Nine or twelve bulbs alone will not tell you which mirror provides better lighting: their position and distance from your face also matter.

Brightness adjustment and colour-temperature adjustment are different functions. One changes light intensity; the other changes how warm or cool the light looks. If a description mentions only adjustable brightness, do not assume that it also offers different light colours.

Consider the location in daylight and in the evening. Near a window, look for reflections and notice whether one side of your face is much darker. Check for glare while seated. A Kelvin value alone does not establish colour-rendering accuracy, so assess the lighting as a whole rather than choosing by one number.

Plan the cable route to the actual socket, allowing for the back of the furniture. Check whether an adapter is included and whether the switch is easy to reach. Do not assume a model has USB ports or built-in sockets because a similar-looking table does.

1. Check the order of dimensions. Compare assembled width, depth and height; check the tabletop and mirror separately.
2. Measure your belongings. Palettes need enough internal drawer width, upright bottles need height, and trays need clear surface space.

4. Plan the assembly. Check the route into the room and fit any supplied anti-tip restraint as directed by the manufacturer.
